Large Hairbrushes

Your best choice for hair that is below the shoulder blades or longer.

FAQs

When should you choose a large hairbrush?

A large hairbrush is the ideal choice if your hair is below the shoulder blades or longer. The greater surface area allows you to smooth more hair at once, making it perfect for long, flowing styles.

Should you use a large brush on wet hair?

Hair is at its most fragile when wet, so we recommend using a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle. Reserve your Mason Pearson brush for dry hair to protect the cuticle and maintain strength.

How do large brushes help with blow-drying?

A large brush offers more coverage, which can enhance a sleek, polished finish. While Mason Pearson does not recommend blow-drying directly with our brushes, if you choose to do so, always keep the heat directed away from the bristles to preserve both the brush and your hair.

Are large brushes better for long or thick hair?

The longer your hair, the larger the brush you’ll find most effective. For very thick or coarse textures, select a bristle type designed to glide through with ease, such as nylon or a nylon and boar bristle blend.

How else should I look after long hair?

Long hair is beautiful but requires consistent care. Use a high-quality shampoo and conditioner to maintain hydration, schedule regular trims to keep ends healthy, and minimise the number of brush strokes by using a large brush that works efficiently through the lengths.

Can I personalise my Mason Pearson large hairbrush as a birthday present?

There are many businesses that personalise Mason Pearson hairbrushes with names, designs and motifs and this can be a lovely keepsake gift.

This is not a service that we offer directly at Mason Pearson. Please be aware that if you do have your hairbrush personalised it will invalidate your one-year guarantee.

Can I buy a large Mason Pearson Hairbrush with nylon bristles?

At this time it is not possible to purchase a large hairbrush with nylon bristles.

Our large hairbrushes are the Large Extra Boar Bristle Hairbrush (B1) and the Popular Bristle & Nylon Hairbrush (BN1).
